What makes Baile na Cille cottages special?
Location . The cottages have brilliant locations. 3 are down at Baile na Cille right on Uig sands. Described as the “Jewel in the crown “ of the area . The 4th has views down Loch Roag to the hills of Harris. All 4 are on peaceful single lane ‘ no through roads’. Peaceful even by local standards!

Are the cottages old?
In our 200 square mile wilderness area of Uig there are just 7 Listed buildings and 4 of these are our cottages! The 3 at Baile na Cille were built by Lady Darroch ( the 3rd!) in the 1840s; for her 8 white horses. 11 Reef was one of the last stone houses built in the area. Built as a DaFS Croft house ( crofters could buy the plans for a house for 6d) in the 40s and it’s stonework is all still visible. So, all the cottages are stone, pretty old and not modern egg boxes with their advantages and disadvantages.

Flexible booking windows
Thirdly we let our cottages in a very flexible way. We have searched high and low but can’t find any commandment which says reservations have to start on a Saturday and after 3pm and last a week. We set a minimum of 3 nights stay but you can come any day you like. You can save by staying a week and often you can arrive and depart when you’re ready. We arrived in 1980 and have stayed ever since….
